AboutHistoryThermal DesorptionAcceptance Forms

ESMI History

ESMI was formed in 1990 to develop a "state-of-the-art" environmentally secure, thermal treatment facility using Low Temperature Thermal Desorption for the remediation of non-hazardous contaminated soils and media. ESMI received permits to construct our first thermal treatment facility in Loudon, New Hampshire in early 1992 and completed construction in the fall of 1992.

From 1994 to 1996, ESMI embarked on an aggressive Research and Development Program to define effective procedures and limits for the acceptance and processing of "special wastes" including MGP site residuals, non-TSCA PCB's and petroleum solvents. This substantial effort produced valuable experience and resulted in a Solid Waste Permit allowing acceptance and treatment of virtually any non-hazardous contaminant amenable to thermal desorption technology.

In 1995, ESMI formed Environmental Soil Management of New York, LLC. The objective was to develop a thermal treatment facility virtually identical to ESMI of NH with the ability to perform on-site low temperature thermal treatment services. Onsite capabilities include not only the treatment of contaminated media but the treatment hazardous wastes amenable to the thermal treatment process. ESMI of NY began operating in November 1995 at 304 Towpath Road, Fort Edward, NY.
